Compliments and Complaints

Your feedback about the Northeastern Illinois University Police is important and welcome. Receiving feedback helps the Police improve both the quality of service we provide and the conduct of individual police officers.

Compliment THE POLICE

If you are pleased with the service you have received from us, we welcome praise about individual members of The Police Department or about the Department in general. The information you provide helps us to recognize and share examples of good practice in order to improve the services we deliver. We will pass your comments on to the employee and their supervisor.

If you would like to thank an officer who has helped, you can email police@neiu.edu, be sure to write "Praise" in the subject line. If you know the officer's name, include it, so we can pass it on to that officer.

COMPLAIN ABOUT THE POLICE

We aim to provide excellent service always, but if something does go wrong, we want you to tell us about it. This will help us to improve our quality of service.

To file an official complaint against an officer, you can come to the Police Station and ask to speak to a supervisor. If that’s not an option, ask the dispatcher for an official complaint form. Be sure to include a detailed account of the events that transpired.

You should complain if you believe:

  • The officer(s) have done something wrong.
  • You were not treated fairly by an officer.
  • You were dissatisfied with the service you received.
