Northeastern announces partnership to create Metropolitan Chicago Data-science Corps
Northeastern Illinois University is one of five Illinois schools to partner in the establishment of the Metropolitan Chicago Data-science Corps (MCDC) to help meet the data science needs of the Chicago metropolitan area.
Northeastern names Shireen Roshanravan as its first Executive Director of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion
Dr. Shireen Roshanravan was named Northeastern Illinois University’s first Executive Director of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion and began serving the University in this capacity in July 2021.

Northeastern to offer tuition and fee waivers for Afghan refugees for the 2021-2022 academic year
Northeastern Illinois University will offer qualified Afghan refugees who settle in Chicago or nearby areas the opportunity to attend Northeastern through University-sponsored discretionary waivers that will cover the cost of tuition and fees for 12 credit hours in the current academic year. The initiative will be available on a first-come, first-served basis for up to 15 continuing and prospective students.

Noteworthy at Northeastern: Reflecting on the past, creating a better future
Forty years ago, the Commission on the Wartime Relocation and Internment of Civilians (CWRIC) hearings were held on Northeastern’s Main Campus. This week, Northeastern will commemorate the anniversary of the hearings with a special Japanese American Redress Conference, which will feature artists, activists and scholars from across the country to examine the significance and influence of the CWRIC hearings as well as how racism continues to impact non-white Americans. Northeastern also named Kamau Rashid as Founding Director of the Ed.D. in Urban Education and Latinx/o/a Heritage Month is underway.
