The U.S. Department of Education has awarded Northeastern Illinois University a five-year, $3 million Developing Hispanic-Serving Institutions Program grant that will help the University increase the number of students who complete STEM majors.

Ensemble Español embraces ‘New Era, New Works, New Legacies’ in 45th season
Ensemble Español Spanish Dance Theatre, in residence at Northeastern Illinois University, marks its 45th season from August 2020 through July 2021. The season, titled “Zafiro Flamenco (Sapphire Flamenco): New Era, New Works, New Legacies,” will feature new partnerships, new works, virtual programs plus a new $300,000 anonymous matching grant opportunity with a total potential earnings of $1 million.

Northeastern Illinois University increased its graduate student enrollment by more than 10 percent and recorded the best fall-to-fall retention of first-time, full-time freshmen in a decade, according to the official Fall 2020 enrollment numbers.

Northeastern Illinois University earns three TRIO Student Support Services grants totaling $3.9 million
The U.S. Department of Education has awarded three grants to Northeastern Illinois University in support of TRIO Student Support Services (TRIO SSS), a program that provides individualized academic and social assistance to students from their freshman year through graduation. Northeastern is the only university in the state to be awarded more than two TRIO grants.
