Northeastern establishes Social Justice Leadership Housing Award for incoming freshmen, transfer students

Northeastern Illinois University has launched the Social Justice Leadership Housing Award, President Gloria J. Gibson announced on June 24. The award is a new leadership program for students who positively impact their university, career and communities. Students participating in the program will be given one year's free housing in The Nest, Northeastern’s on-campus apartments, while taking a first-year seminar during their first semester and while participating in a series of leadership workshops during their second semester.

Northeastern Illinois University President Gloria J. Gibson has announced the creation of the George Floyd Social Justice Scholarship to invest in students who will become community leaders and promote social justice.

Professor Emeritus, former Carruthers Center Director Conrad Worrill dies at 78

Conrad W. Worrill, who taught at Northeastern Illinois University for more than 40 years and whose activism has been at the forefront of social and racial justice, African-centered education, African liberation and self-determination for people of African descent, died on June 3 after battling several major illnesses.
