Northeastern Illinois University is gearing up for the Spring 2021 semester, which starts Jan. 11. As the University prepares for continued remote and online teaching and learning, it has signed an online quality assurance agreement.

Northeastern Illinois University joins online learning quality assurance agreement

Northeastern Illinois University has joined the National Council for State Authorization Reciprocity Agreements (NC-SARA), a collection of more than 2,100 colleges and universities committed to expanding students’ access to educational opportunities by providing more efficient, consistent and effective regulation of online learning programs. Joining SARA is voluntary, and participating institutions agree to follow the Interregional Guidelines for the Evaluation of Distance Education Programs for best practices in postsecondary distance education.

Northeastern Illinois University awarded $275,000 grant from USDA-NIFA

The U.S. Department of Agriculture National Institute of Food and Agriculture (USDA-NIFA) has awarded Northeastern Illinois University a $275,000 grant to support its agriculture science engagement at Hispanic-Serving Institutions (HSI). Northeastern is one of 26 institutions in the United States—and the only institution in Illinois—to receive this grant. It is Northeastern’s fourth USDA-NIFA grant and its fifth USDA grant overall.
