GENERAL PROGRAM OPTION

30 credit hours from the CORE and/or Separation Science concentration option(s).  These courses can be distributed as:

  • 21 hours from the CORE, the 9 hours of Independent study (CHEM 408, 3 cr.) and Thesis Seminar (CHEM 409, 6 cr.),   or
  • 27 hours from the CORE and 3 hours of independent study with oral presentation of Independent Study work or
  • 30 credit hours from the CORE and/or Separation Science concentration and take a comprehensive written departmental examination

SEPARATION SCIENCE CONCENTRATION OPTION

12 credit hours from the CORE and the 9 hours of Required Coursework in the Separation Science concentration.  The 9 hours left can be distributed as:

  • 9 hours of Independent study (CHEM 408, 3 cr.) and Thesis Seminar (CHEM 409, 6 cr.) in the area of Separation Science, including oral defense of the thesis work, or
  • 6 hours from the CORE, and 3 hours of Independent Study in Chemistry in the area of Separation Science with oral presentation of Independent Study work.

CHEMICAL EDUCATION CONCENTRATION OPTION

12 credit hours from the CORE, the 9 hours of Required Coursework in the Chemical

Education concentration.  The 9 hours left can be distributed as:

  • 9 hours of Independent study (CHEM 408, 3 cr.) and Thesis Seminar (CHEM 409, 6 cr.) in the area of Chemical Education, including oral defense of the thesis work, or
  • 6 hours from the CORE, and 3 hours of Independent Study in Chemistry in the area of Chemical Education with oral presentation of Independent Study work.
