Northeastern Illinois University Vice Provost Vicki Román-Lagunas has been appointed Acting Provost, effective Oct. 1, 2016. Román-Lagunas will fill the role vacated by Richard J. Helldobler, who will take over as Interim President upon the retirement of Sharon Hahs.
Román-Lagunas joined the University in 1996 as an Assistant Professor of Spanish and Women’s Studies. She has held a variety of administrative positions during her tenure, including Department Chair, Acting Associate Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, University Contract Administrator, Associate Provost, and most recently, Vice Provost. She also served as Acting Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs for one year.
“Having worked closely with Dr. Román-Lagunas during my tenure at Northeastern, I have full confidence in her leadership, and know that her previous experience as Acting Provost will serve her well,” Helldobler said.
