Northeastern Illinois University will host a series of events on April 22 to mark Earth Day that are sponsored by a number of student organizations.
The activities begin with an opening ceremony, bike parade and games at 11 a.m. in the Commons. At 11:30 a.m., the University will unveil a new bike rack and repair station and air pump.
The Green Conservation Group and Green Fee Committee will lead a tree planting at 11:30 a.m. and a campus tree walk at 12:30 p.m.
From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Village Square, the Biology department will stage its annual spring plant sale. The selection will include greenhouse-grown garden plants, including a wide variety of herbs and spices, as well as lots of tomatoes and peppers.
