The annual Chicago Brass Festival will return to Northeastern Illinois University on March 13-14 for its seventh year. The event will feature performances from some of the world’s most vibrant and incredible talents, including critically acclaimed and musically innovative acts Axiom Brass and CALJE, who will close the festival. Northeastern’s own Faculty Brass will also perform.
In addition, all brass musicians are invited to connect with others and play in different group workshops, such as Tubarama! and Trumpetous! These events will prepare musicians to perform collectively for Mass Brass, one of the festival’s concerts. Mass Brass will also be streamed live on concertwindow.com.
The festival encourages individuals to enter into the solo competition.
"The Brass Festival is the only festival of its kind in the region,” said festival director Travis Heath, who also is an associate professor of Music at Northeastern. “It showcases a vast range of musical genres with the world's top artists, and it presents a unique educational opportunity not only for our University students, but for students of all age levels throughout the Chicago area.”
The Chicago Brass Festival is open to the public. All events are free, except for Axiom Brass and CALJE, which are ticketed events. For the full schedule of events and tickets, visit the Chicago Brass Festival website.
