The Asian and Global Resource Center at Northeastern Illinois University is hosting the 5th Annual Asian American Heritage Awards Gala on Friday, April 10, at 5:30 p.m. in Alumni Hall, 3701 W. Bryn Mawr Ave. in Chicago.
A tribute to Asian and Asian-American traditions, the gala celebrates the achievements of Northeastern graduates and members of the community.
Program highlights include a keynote address by Tuyet Le, executive director of Asian Americans Advancing Justice - Chicago, an awards presentation and a Northeastern graduates recognition.
Gala seating is limited; register online by March 30.

- Alumni Award of Excellence: Muntaha Alhindi, B.A. Social Work, summa cum laude, 2014
- Community Service Award of Excellence: Tareq Yaghmour, owner, Hala In Restaurant
- Faculty Award of Excellence: Mateo Farzaneh, assistant professor, Department of History
- International Student Award of Excellence: Mohammed Ahmed, M.S. candidate, Computer Science
- Staff Award of Excellence: Malti Rathore, coordinator, Student Transition Services
- Student Award of Excellence: Maram Anabtawi, English major
