Northeastern Illinois University’s Jewel Box Series, now in its 19th year, will return for the 2018-19 season with a lineup of diverse artists from all over the globe to perform in the acoustically superior Recital Hall and spacious Auditorium.
The eight-concert series will begin Sept. 28, and offers music from a variety of genres through May 17, 2019.
The 2018-19 Jewel Box Series will open just two weeks after Northeastern inaugurates Gloria J. Gibson as its seventh president, Office of Cultural Events Director Christie Miller noted.
“In past seasons we have added dance to the series, and this year we are bringing in another new genre: comedy improv, with Capitol Steps from Washington, D.C.,” Miller said. “Well known in this area, Capitol Steps will no doubt attract an enthusiastic crowd. From big, elegant brass to grooving bluegrass, the 19th season of the Jewel Box Series encompasses variety and outstanding talent from around the world.”
Tickets are $10, $17.50 and $25, and will be available online beginning July 17. Four- and eight-concert subscriptions are also available at the NEIU Information Center and Box Office or by calling (773) 442-4636.
