Northeastern Illinois University’s Nest Fest is back to bring some electricity to the end of the semester. The annual festival, hosted and sponsored by the Northeastern Programming Board (NPB), will be held on Friday, May 1.
This year’s Nest Fest will be headlined by platinum-selling band Hellogoodbye, known for the hit single “Here in Your Arms.” The band beat out three other artists in a poll voted by the student body to become this year’s headliner.
Nest Fest also will feature a performance by The Freedonian Municipal Band, a Northeastern-based band, as well as a set by DJ Axon.
The Nest Fest festivities will not be limited to musical performances. NPB wanted to offer different activities that would cater to interests of the student body.
“Some of the other activities will include Belizean dancers, a photo booth, caricature artists, student performers, spoken word, Ensemble Español dancers, and a drum circle workshop,” said Tania Gorgius, NPB social media and marketing coordinator.
Besides the array of activities, this year’s Nest Fest differs from years past in that it is entirely free for all Northeastern students.
Nest Fest will run from 1-10 p.m. The concert featuring Hellogoodbye starts at 7 p.m. in the Auditorium. Doors open at 6:30. All Nest Fest events are free for Northeastern students. General admission for non-students is $10.
