Northeastern Illinois University’s El Centro will host a Day of the Dead celebration and an art exhibit titled “Pieces of Me” on Oct. 29.
The event, which is free and open to the public, will run from 5-9 p.m. in the first-floor Community Room at 3390 N. Avondale Ave. in Chicago. The event will feature art, music and poetry in preparation for the Day of the Dead.
Visitors will learn about the history and tradition of the celebration and meet artists from Imago Dei, an art collective in the Little Village neighborhood of Chicago.
The event is co-sponsored by El Centro, the Department of Social Work and the Alliance for Student Social Workers.
