The Center for College Access and Success (CCAS) at Northeastern Illinois University will host its 10th Annual iMATHination Conference on Jan. 22-23 in St. Charles, Ill. This conference brings highly interactive and real-world approaches to the teaching and learning of mathematics and science.
The conference will be a vehicle to showcase burgeoning maker technologies, such as 3-D printing, robotics and conductive ink pens. Teachers will be encouraged to visit CCAS’ new CenterSpace, a makerspace that is open to all educators.
The theme for this year’s conference for teachers is Equity and Civic Engagement in STEM. The keynote speaker will be Rochelle Gutierrez, professor in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction at the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana. Gutierrez’s scholarship focuses on equity issues in mathematics education, paying particular attention to how race, class and language affect teaching and learning.
