Microcomputer Support Specialist I

In this role you will:

Under the direction of the IT Associate Director for User Services and the IT Associate Director for Media Services, this position is a technical specialist responsible for installation, maintenance, and operational support of Microcomputers, Audio/Video Hybrid communication equipment and their applications supporting all technology related functions in the day-to-day operation of the University’s Remote Instruction, Tele-Commuting, and Video-Conferencing services between the operational hours of 2:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m.  In addition, they are involved with the research, evaluation, and selection of Microcomputer and Audio/Video hardware, software, network and related accessories.  Emphasis of the positions is the support of Microcomputer client software (i.e., Zoom, Google Meet, WebEx, Skype) and/or network-independent software (i.e., Air Media, Crestron, Extron) on end user systems which may or may not be on a networked system, as opposed to networking or client server activities.  This position fulfills all assigned tier/level 1 technology service requests made by University Administrators, Faculty, Staff and Students.

To be successful in this role, qualified applicants will have:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AS OUTLINED IN THE CLASSIFICATION SPECIFICATION

  1. high school graduation or equivalent

A. 60 semester hours of university/college course work with a minimum of 12 semester hours of credit directly related to microcomputer programming, analysis, and design
OR

B. 18 months of experience in microcomputer applications programming
OR

C. any proportional combination of above course work and experience that totals 18 months

 (This position requires a background check.)

Salary:

$22.00

Hours:

Monday - Friday, 2 p.m. – 10 p.m. (Hours may vary depending on departmental needs)
