Huddle up to establish the Laura Dojutrek Scholarship fund for Northeastern Physical Education students!
NEIU Football alumni and friends, you may remember Laura Dojutrek (B.A. Physical Education '82) as the team manager for the Golden Eagle football team, or you may know her as the driving force behind the 2019 NEIU Football reunion. She was relentless and formidable in her days as a student, and since graduation has put her energy and dedication toward the service of others. In 1999, she established the “Dream of Hopes Ranch” in Buda, Texas, which provides year-round programming to serve youth and adults with special needs.
In October 2021, Northeastern Illinois University presented Laura with the Alumni Service Award for her accomplishments. She said, “Northeastern let me be who I wanted to be. All the professors there, especially Dan Creely, helped me to grow in so many ways.”
In support of her award, Golden Eagles near and far are huddling up one more time to create a scholarship in her name. Our goal is to raise $20,000 that will be distributed as a $5,000 scholarship over four years to an outstanding Physical Education student in financial need.
