Hands on Learning
The educational experience at Northeastern involves hands-on learning, field research, and community engagement. The academic environment includes opportunities for you to participate in research and present at conferences with faculty. We boast a high student-teacher ratio of 15 to 1. Our faculty are unique scholars who are passionate about teaching.
The range of our academic offerings has broadened considerably since our beginnings in 1867 as Chicago’s premier teachers college. Today you can choose from more than 60 undergraduate majors and minors, and 37 master’s degrees.
To ensure that all qualified students have access to higher education, we offer an array of evening and weekend classes, and are located at five distinct Chicago campuses. We understand that logistic concerns make a difference for those who are balancing university life, work and home life, and community engagement. We pay special attention to the needs of transfer students. We know that a good college education means more than just knowledge acquisition–mentoring relationships and experiential learning are also crucial.
