Northeastern to host Black Heritage Awards Ceremony

Several members the Northeastern Illinois University community will be honored during the 13th Annual Black Heritage Awards Ceremony on Feb. 20. “We hear so much about the work to be done in order to promote African-American success, and we are doing that work,” African and African American Resource Center Director Kim Everett said. “On this night, we pause to celebrate the many people doing great things for and with African-Americans at Northeastern.”

Trio Voronezh to perform in Northeastern Jewel Box Series

Internationally acclaimed Russian music ensemble Trio Voronezh will perform at Northeastern Illinois University on Friday, Feb. 20. Formed by Vladimir Volokhin, Valerie Petrukhin and Sergei Teleshev, Trio Voronezh produce inventively exciting sounds using Russian folk instruments—domra, bass balalaika and bayan. The trio will perform a diverse set of songs, which will incorporate genres such as Russian folk, classical, baroque, Argentine tango, and bluegrass.
