This page lists and describes the items that you will upload to your electronic portfolio.  Click the links on the right for instructions to login to neiu.TK20.com and submit artifacts to it.

I.  For Majors in Spanish and Spanish K-12

  • Course artifacts. Each required course in the major has an artifact that will go into your portfolio.  For example, for SPAN 255 (Composition I), that artifact will be the final composition.  The full list of artifacts is included in the description of the B.A. in Spanish on this website.  After you have received your grade and feedback from your professor for the required artifact, you are encouraged to revise the artifact before uploading it to your portfolio.  Uploading a copy of the evaluation rubric or your professor’s feedback to the portfolio is optional.
  • Reflective Essay. During your last semester, write a 3-4 page reflection of your experience in the Major and upload it to your portfolio.  At a minimum, the reflection should answer the following questions:
  1. What are the most important things that you learned as a Spanish Major?
  2. How does your degree in Spanish fit into your plans for the future?
  3. What are your most memorable experiences as a Major of Spanish?
  • Oral Proficiency Interview (OPI).  Upload a pdf copy of the results of your OPI.
  • Writing Proficiency Test (WPT).  Upload a pdf copy of the results of your WPT.

II.  Portfolios for graduate students in the M.A. program

  • Final essays. Upload a copy of every final essay that you write in your courses.  You are encouraged to revise the essays, based on the feedback you receive, before uploading them to your portfolio.  Uploading a copy of the evaluation rubric or your professor’s feedback to the portfolio is optional.
  • Reflective Essay. During your last semester, write a 3-4 page reflection of your experience in the program and upload it to your portfolio.  At a minimum, the reflection should answer the following questions: (1) What are the most important things you learned in the program?; (2) How does the M.A. in Latin American Literatures and Cultures fit in your plans for the future?; and (3) What are your most memorable experiences in the program?
  • Comprehensive Exam.  Upload a copy of your comprehensive exam.
  • Thesis (optional).  Upload a copy of your M.A. thesis.
