Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Questioning, Ally (LGBTQA) Resource Center

The LGBTQA Resource Center at Northeastern Illinois University is here for you, whether you are looking for a place to hang out or come out! Through our programs and resources, we provide a safe and affirming environment for students, faculty, staff, and alumni of all sexual and gender orientation, identities, and expressions.

We are temporarily located in the B-119 suite and we are available Monday and Friday 8:30 am to 4:30 pm and Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 8:30 am to 7:00 pm Any Northeastern student, faculty, or staff member may use the resources of the center. If you are looking for a safe and confidential space to have a one-on-one discussion, Anthony Papini, the director of the LGBTQA Resource Center is available. You may reach him at (773) 442-5445 or via email (J-Guardia@neiu.edu)

If you require immediate help anytime of day, call the Trevor Project at  (866) 488-7386 or visit thetrevorproject.org

Safe Zone Training

The LGBTQA Resource Center's Safe Zone workshop is designed to educate people about sexual orientation and gender identity issues, create a visible network of allies to provide support to members of Northeastern lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer/questioning (LGBTQ) communities, and provide accurate information and resources about sexual orientation and gender identity issues. Participants will have the option of receiving an "NEIU Safe Zone Ally" sticker after the training. To request training, contact the LGBTQA RC for a consultation and to schedule a date. The minimum training time for Safe Zone is two hours.

Trans 101 Workshops

Northeastern works closely with Transformative Justice Law Project to provide the Trans 101 workshop on issues related to gender identity and its intersection with sexual orientation. The training will cover issues such as terminology, understand trans identities, and social/political/legal issues faced by trans identified individuals. Trans 101 is offered multiple times during the semester - dates are listed on the events calendar. While we recommend Safe Zone training prior to Trans 101, it is not required.

LGBTQA Lending Library

The Lending Library is an ever-growing resource that contains books, magazines, DVDs, and other materials that may be borrowed by Northeastern students, faculty, staff, and alumni. We are working on creating an online list of our library materials.
