Welcome to the Department of Mathematics! We are here to provide and promote knowledge, critical understanding, and applications of mathematics. We teach a variety of mathematical and statistical skills and offer a variety of supplemental programs to support you in developing a strong foundation in math and stats.
The Department of Mathematics at Northeastern Illinois University offers courses in mathematics and statistics from the beginning undergraduate level to the master’s graduate level. We offer one undergraduate Bachelor of Arts degree in Mathematics with two different focuses to choose from: Applied Mathematics and Math for Secondary Education.
We also offer three minors to support mathematical sciences in other majors:
- The minor in Applied Math,
- The minor in Math for Humanities and Elementary Education,
- The minor in Mathematical and Statistical Modeling of Complex Systems.
We also offer one graduate degree program in two tracks:
- M.S. in Mathematics – Applied Mathematics track
- M.S. in Mathematics – Secondary Education track
Beyond our major, minors, and graduate programs, we offer a variety of service courses for the University, serving students in all majors and in all of the colleges.
