New Student and Family Programs (NSFP) coordinates student orientation, Testing Services for English (Writing and Reading) and Mathematics, Summer Transition Program, peer leaders, and family and parent programming.
Orientation assists new students with a successful transition to Northeastern Illinois University by preparing students for the academic, social, and cultural opportunities and climate of the University, while also supporting parents, partners, guardians, and children of new students. Learn more.
Summer Transition Program
The Summer Transition Program (STP) is a comprehensive six-week program that prepares first-year admitted students for Northeastern college level coursework for the fall semester and a successful academic and social transition. The Program is designed to enhance math skills, reading comprehension, and writing skills prior to the first college semester. Learn more.

Our goal is to involve and support family members by providing information that will help aid in the success of their student. Programs such as family orientation and Family Brunch give parents and family members an opportunity to become connected to Northeastern and meet students, other family members, faculty, and staff.
