NEIU Leadership Programs
The Student Activities Office offers a variety of programs to enhance student leadership skills through LEAD (Leaders Emerging and Developing), the overall umbrella for Northeastern’s leadership programs. LEAD’s primary focus is to develop student leadership skills that enable them to discover themselves, develop relationship skills, and create involvement opportunities that introduce positive change within the campus and the outside community. Methods of imploring leadership skills range from service activities, leadership retreats, interpersonal exploration, communication skill development, and diversity encounters.
Current leadership programs encompass an emerging leadership program for freshmen helping them develop their values and belief statements, social change leadership retreats, and even collaborative programming with existing campus issues such as sustainability and homelessness issues. Beginning this Fall, L.E.A.D. has committed to going Green and providing programs that help student engage in discussions, experiential learning and service related to sustainability. L.E.A.D. has also committed to reducing waste through its programs, utilizing different forms of media for promotions of events and providing earth friendly materials in the various workshops. |
