Goldie Mascot Tryout Information

NEIU students, are you a born entertainer? Do you have school spirit?

We’re seeking students to try-out to be the new Goldie. We’re looking for students who can entertain crowds while creating excitement and school spirit at NEIU and community events.

NEIU mascot members wear the “Goldie the Golden Eagle” costume throughout the year and perform at a variety of on-campus events and represent the University in the community.

Students selected will receive a small stipend for each appearance.

Member Selection Process

The try-out process will consist of three parts, which will include a written application, an oral interview and situational improv/dance scenarios.

Criteria:

1. Must be in Academic Good Standing and have a clean conduct record

2. Strong ability in skits/dance and improvisation

3. Strong leadership qualities

4. Charismatic presence/personality

5. Enthusiasm

6. Must be a minimum of 5’3” (In order to fit in costume)

In order to be considered, the written application, interview and tryout must all be completed. Students will be interviewed with the selection committee. Immediately following the interview, students will be asked to perform situational improv/dance scenarios. Be sure to dress in a manner which will allow you to demonstrate your athletic skills.
