Graduate Assistantship Opportunities

Graduate Assistantships at Northeastern Illinois University:

  • Graduate Assistants have varied duties that may include assisting departments and other academic units in various ways or assisting faculty with research, teaching, and tutoring
  • GAs work at various departments as well as in many academic units throughout campus, i.e. the Library, Academic Advising, International Programs, Technology and Media Services, Project Success, Learning Support Center, Weekend Institute, and more
  • Most assistantships are granted for the full semester (Fall or Spring, 4.5 months in length) and include a tuition waiver and a monthly stipend. Limited Summer assistantships are available with the stipend only
  • To be eligible for an assistantship, you need to be admitted to the College of Graduate Studies and Research and be enrolled in at least one 3 credit hour course

  • You will be contacted when an opening that matches your skills, experience and area of study becomes available

Graduate Assistantship Compensation:

  • 20 hours of work per week = $550 stipend per month PLUS tuition & fees waiver for 3 courses (9 credit hours) per semester
  • 15 hours of work per week = $412.50 stipend per month PLUS tuition & fees waiver for 2 courses (6 credit hours) per semester
  • 10 hours of work per week = $275 stipend per month PLUS tuition & fees waiver for 1 course (3 credit hours) per semester
