Master of Science in Special Education (LBS II)

Program Description
The LBS II program at Northeastern Illinois University (NEIU) is designed to provide advanced preparation for candidates who are seeking State of Illinois LBS II Endorsement and a Master of Science degree. An endorsement-only option is available for candidates who already have a Master's degree. In order for candidates to be eligible to enter the LBS II program, they must have a valid LBS I certificate or Deaf/Hard of Hearing or Blind and Visually impaired or Speech Language Pathology on a type 10 (or the respective equivalent), have passed the Illinois Test of Basic Skills and the Assessment of Professional Teaching (ATP) and met the requirements of the NEIU College of Graduate Studies and Research and the Special Education Department.
Admission Requirements
Applicants must fulfill the requirements for admission to the Graduate College. In addition, applicants must hold an LBS I (or equivalent), Blind and Visually Impaired (or equivalent), Deaf/Hard of Hearing (or equivalent) or Speech-Language Pathology on a type 10 and have passed the ICTS Content Test for that certificate. They should have passed the Illinois Test of Basic skills (or equivalent) and the Assessment of Professional Teaching (APT) exam or equivalent. A spontaneous writing sample and department interview are required at the discretion of the Department.Degree Requirements
