The English and Math Enrichment, Readiness and Growth Experience (EMERGE) Summer Program and the Summer Transition Program (STP) are free summer enrichment programs offered at Northeastern Illinois University for first time, first year students enrolled for Fall 2016.  Each program can help you save up to $4000 on tuition and fees, and save time to graduation.

Consider the following information to help you decide which program is best for you.

Choose EMERGE if you:

  • Are available to attend at least one of the two (2) three-week programs: English is held June 27 - July 14 and Math is held July 18 - August 4
  • Would like to strengthen confidence in your English and/or Math abilities through singular and focused study of the topic
  • Would like to form study groups
  • Want personalized action plans to help you succeed in math
  • Get to know faculty, staff, and other students before you start in Fall 2016

Choose STP if you:

  • Are available to attend the entire six (6) week session from July 1 - August 12, 2016 (STP dates are updated as of March 28, 2016)
  • Would like to get a jumpstart on your academic career and experience a 3 credit hour course before the Fall semester begins
  • Would like to experience workshops designed to improve your math, reading and writing skills
  • Want to participate in workshops that will help you successfully navigate college life at Northeastern
  • Would like to participate in civic engagement activities
  • Get to know faculty, staff, and other students before you start in Fall 2016
