Information Center and CTA U-Pass
The NEIU Information Center can help you find answers to all of your questions related to campus information and resources. Our friendly student staff will be happy to help you with a wide variety of services. The Information Center is conveniently located in Village Square.

Information Center Services:

Available lockers can be rented in Bernard Brommel Hall (BBH), Lech Walesa Hall (LWH), and the Fine Arts (FA) buildings
To rent a locker in FA, you must be a Fine Arts major and have approval from the department to rent a locker (due to limited number of lockers in the FA bldg)
The fee is $5.00 per semester

The CTA U-Pass is an unlimited ride pass for the CTA, available to all full-time students
Replacements are obtained through the Information Center - the fee is $50.00 for lost, stolen, or damaged cards.
|Who is eligible?
||All full-time students at NEIU. For the Spring, Summer and Fall terms, full-time is defined as 12 hours minimum for undergraduate students and 9 hours minimum for graduate students|
|How much is it?
||$128 per semester (same for Spring, Summer, and Fall)|
|Can I waive the fee?
||You cannot waive the U-Pass fee unless you fall into these categories:
- students who are para-transit dependent
- students who are currently studying abroad
- students who are taking all classes at UCLC (University Center–Lake County)
- students who are taking all classes online only
**Note that the U-pass is for full-time students only – however, if you drop to part-time after 2/20/2014 you will still be charged for the U-pass and it will still be active.**
Dear U-Pass customers:
If you already have a Ventra U-pass, it will automatically be re-activated as you become full time and the semester begins (as long as your card isn't expired - it is good for five years). Similarly, it is automatically de-activated if you change to part time status or the semester ends, where it can then be used as a reloadable fare card.
If you become full time after the semester has started and already have a Ventra U-pass, please allow 48 - 72 hours from when you become full time for your U-pass function to be activated. Those who are full time the business day before classes begin (or before, excluding weekends) will have full privileges on the first day of class.
One of the conveniences of Ventra is you can continue to use the same U-Pass card when school is out of session. During those periods, your U-Pass card will function just like a normal Ventra Card. In order to use it, you must add funds to your account and your U-Pass will work as a regular Ventra Card instead of receiving the U-Pass unlimited riding privileges on days school is not in session. You will be charged full fares for your rides of $2.25 for rail and $2 for bus during school breaks.
This practice replaces the need to use a separate fare card when school is not in session.
It’s easy and convenient to add money to your Ventra card. You can add funds or load an unlimited-ride 1-day, 3-day, 7-day or 30-day pass online at www.VentraChicago.com if you have a registered transit account; at any Ventra Vending Machine located at CTA rail stations and at hundreds of participating retail locations – visit VentraChicago.com to find a location near you.
Your Ventra U-Pass unlimited riding privilege automatically resumes when your next full-time term begins. Please note your transit account must be in good standing prior to your next qualifying term for U-Pass privileges.
Also, please do not discard or lose your U-Pass; if you do not have the card when school resumes, there is a $50 fee to replace your U-Pass. The card is valid for four years from the date of issuance.
