Certification Within a week to 10 days after initiating entitlement procedures, you can apply for certification on-line through the Online Teacher Information Service System (OTIS) at www.isbe.net/otis. You will need a Master Card or Visa credit card to pay your fees. If you do not wish to apply online, you can obtain an “Application for Teaching Certification” through Enrollment Services 773/ 442-4000 D-101. For certification questions or more information contact the College of Education 773/ 442 5504.
Retention Requirements for retention within the College of Education (COE) and program-specific GPA requirements are listed in the NEIU Academic Catalog, College of Education section.
Graduation Undergraduate programs: In order to graduate, you must fulfill University, College of Education, and Program requirements. Refer to the NEIU Academic Catalog for specific information regarding these requirements.
Approximately two terms before you plan to graduate, you should pick up a graduation packet from the NEIU Enrollment Services. The packet will have specific instructions regarding the steps to follow in order to apply for graduation. You should also see your program advisor to make certain you have completed all requirements and necessary paperwork.
Graduate programs: Candidates may apply for graduation in the term in which they expect to graduate even if they are registered at Northeastern for that semester for courses required for the degree. Candidacy is a pre-requisite for filing for graduation. Obtain a graduation application form from the Graduate College. Deadline dates are specified in the Schedule of Classes.
