BiographyViolinist and conductor, Brian Groner, has been the director of the NEIU String Orchestra and a violin teacher since 2011. An active professional musician, Mr. Groner is music director and conductor of the Fox Valley Symphony Orchestra in Appleton, Wisconsin and music director of the Harper Symphony in Palatine, Illinois. He has appeared as a guest conductor on the podium of many notable ensembles including the Czech National Orchestra; the San Diego Symphony; Chicago Sinfonietta; the Indianapolis Chamber Orchestra; The Shenzhen Symphony (China); and the International Contemporary Ensemble. He also toured with the Moscow Classical Ballet. Performances he has led have also been featured on satellite broadcasts over National Public Radio in over 50 major radio markets across the U.S.
As a performing violinist, he has appeared as a concerto soloist throughout the Midwest. His orchestral membership includes the violin sections of the Oklahoma Symphony and the Nashville Symphony Orchestras; the latter of the two being where he last served as Assistant Concertmaster.
His conducting teachers have included Kenneth Schermerhorn, Louis Lane and Amerigo Marino, and he studied analysis with Dr. David Cassel.
