The Department of Music and Dance Program offers courses leading to the degrees of Bachelor of Arts, Master of Arts, and post-baccalaureate Teacher Certification/Licensure.

Teacher Certification/Licensure Program is available to students who already have an earned Bachelor’s degree. For program requirements, visit the College of Education.
Once you have applied and have been accepted as an incoming student to Northeastern Illinois University, contact the Music Department’s Recruitment and Scholarship Coordinator, Sasha Gerritson, using this form. Information about the music program, scheduling a campus visit or arranging your audition will be coordinated through Sasha. All prospective music students must audition to be accepted into the music program.
The Department of Music hosts the Dance Program and offers a minor in dance. Contact the Dance Program Coordinator, Dr. Venetia Stifler, for information about the dance program, scheduling a campus visit or arranging your audition. All prospective dance minor candidates must demonstrate sufficient technical ability through an audition before obtaining the coordinator’s approval for the total dance program.
