**NOTE: While students
may not take more than 9 hours under any one category of DIRECTED ELECTIVES,
they may take 6 hours of FREE ELECTIVES from any category. Thus, it is possible
for students to create their own concentration of 15 hours in one category, such
as 15 hours in Writing or American Literature (9 hours of DIRECTED ELECTIVES + 6
hours of FREE ELECTIVES).
