ALICIA THOMPSON
CHICAGO HIGH SCHOOL FOR AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES | BIOLOGY
“I transferred to Northeastern because wanted to start the next part of my education after watching family and friends do their part during the pandemic. I wanted to use science to help people, too.
From day one, my teachers took an interest in my future goals and in helping me in my studies. Through the McNair Scholars Program, I’ve worked with an amazing professor, Dr. Cindy Voisine, who has taught me so much about how to craft a research question and run a laboratory as a lab manager. Programs like McNair were not available in community college. I have been able to do so much in so little time because of the program and professors like Dr. Voisine.
My sister already transferred to NEIU after I told her how amazing it is. I love the smaller class sizes, the one-on-one attention, and the wealth of programs to help students with their academic and career goals.
Northeastern is close to home and it’s affordable compared to other universities in Chicago. Scholarships and special programs are posted all over the school and available at Student Center for Science Engagement (SCSE) and the Financial Aid Office.”
