Transfer Student Resources

Northeastern welcomes transfer students. We acknowledge this as a sensible path of educational achievement for many students. Nearly 50 percent of students at Northeastern are transfer students.

If you have questions about transferring to Northeastern several online resources are available.

Transfer Course Equivalency Guides

The Transfer Course Equivalency Guides provide a course by course view of how courses from nearby colleges will be counted as credit at Northeastern.

Transfer Guides

The Transfer Guides summarize the transfer credit policy for undergraduates and second B.A. students, including hour limits for transfer credit from different kinds of institutions and general policy for counting this credit at Northeastern.  They have been built for many of the majors and are a useful planning tool especially for those attending nearby community colleges.

Illinois Articulation Initiative (IAI)

iTransfer is a well-organized portal for transfer assistance in the state of Illinois for students seeking transfer between Illinois higher education institutions. Browse this site to find further answers about the transfer process.

In addition, the student advising office can assist you with transferring, whether you have been admitted to Northeastern or are in the process of applying for admission.

Northeastern has a Peer Mentor program for transfer and veteran students to help orient you to Northeastern. The Transfer and Veteran Peer Mentors Program is here to help you connect to resources within Northeastern’s community as well as provide support and information.

Transfer and Veteran Peer Mentors assist undergraduate students make a successful transition to Northeastern. This includes prospective students, new applicants, admitted, and continuing students. Transfer and Veteran peer mentors serve as leaders and role models, use multiple methods to outreach to transfer students, and participate in regular trainings and updates.
