All undergraduate students majoring in art must complete the following 15 hour core requirement:

Students who select an emphasis in Studio Art complete the following courses:
ART-201	Contemporary Art	3 cr.
ART-220	Drawing II	3 cr.
ART-234	Colour	3 cr.
ART-392	Senior Project	3 cr.
	2-300 level Art History courses	6 cr.

Three of the following
ART-230	Introduction to Painting
ART-240	Introduction to Sculpture
ART-250	Introduction to Printmaking
ART-261	Introduction to Photography
ART-270	Introduction to Ceramics
ART-273	Introduction to Studio in Metals/Jewlery
ART-281	Introduction to Commercial Art
ART-282	Introduction to Computer Graphics

Three courses in an area of concentration selected in consultation with an Art Department advisor		3 cr.

Students wishing to be certified for teaching art in secondary schools should consult the secondary education requirements in the College of Education.
All Secondary Education students in Art must complete course work in the following areas:
ART-230	Introduction to Painting	3 cr.
ART-240	Introduction to Sculpture	3 cr.
ART-250	Introduction to Printmaking	3 cr.
ART-261	Introduction to Photography	3 cr.
ART-270	Introduction to Ceramics	3 cr.
Students teaching for Art students is only offered during the Spring semester. Students must complete C&I-SCED-303A during the Fall semester before student teaching.

Emphasis in Art History
Student who select an emphasis in Art History complete the following courses:
ART-202	Methods of Research in Art History	3 cr.
	Seven (7) courses at the 300-level in Art History selected in consultation with an advisor	21cr.
	Core Courses	15 cr.
	total	39 cr.
In addition, there must be a demonstration of reading competence in a foreign language approved by the advisor or 6 credit hours of a foreign language.
