Chicago Film Society Screenings at NEIU
fall 2024
This fall marks the 24th season of NEIU’s collaboration with the Chicago Film Society.
Do you love classic Hollywood films from the 1930s, 40s, and 50s? Have a soft spot for movies from the 1980s and 90s?Well, we have you covered with this fall semester film schedule!
We kick things off in the NEIU Auditorium on Wednesday, Sept. 11 with Michell Leisen’s 1944 romantic comedy “Practically Yours” starring the always wonderful Claudette Colbert and Fred MacMurray. Other highlights include “All That Heaven Allows” (Douglas Sirk’s beautiful and timeless melodrama starring Rock Hudson and Jane Wyman), “Vagabond” (the award-winning 1985 masterpiece from French New Wave icon Agnès Varda), a rescheduled screening of last semester’s “Trouble in Paradise” (Ernst Lubitsch’s 1932 pre-Code classic), “Curse of the Cat People” (a “melancholic supernatural Christmas fantasy” produced by Val Lewton when he was the head of RKO’s horror division in the 1940s), and so much more!
This is a rare opportunity to see these movies on actual 35mm film, and you get to do it right here at NEIU! If you love cinema, don’t miss out! Check out the full schedule below.
