Welcome to Northeastern Illinois University!
We are delighted that you will be joining us! Newly admitted international students are required to participate in orientation sessions conducted by the Office of International Programs (OIP). In addition, you should also attend the regular orientation sessions that are provided for all degree-seeking students as these will cover material related to your academic program, which is not covered in the OIP orientation.
During orientation you will receive useful information and resources to help you during your transition to NEIU. You will also be provided with information on how to maintain your visa status, employment and other resources available to students, and you will be taken on a campus tour.
OIP will send out an email stating the date of the orientation along with a Pre-Arrival Guide. The guide will explain how to apply for your visa, how to get housing, NEIU's immunization policy, student resources, and how to get around the city. Orientation will be held a week before classes begins.
Please note: you will be required to submit your original financial documents to OIP, and your immunization records to NEIU's Student Health Services. Failure to submit these required documents will place a hold on your student account until they are received.

Now that you are admitted you will need to obtain an I-20 Form from OIP. Read the I-20 application process to find out what documents you are required to submit to OIP.
If you wish to bring your spouse and/or children with you, you must demonstrate that you have enough funding for everyone. Please refer to the Financial Statement Form under Obtaining an I-20 for the additional amounts needed. You will also need to provide a copy of their passports, your marriage certificate, and your children's birth certificates.
