An interview with Lance Williams, associate professor, inner city studies education, and assistant director, Carruthers Center for Inner City Studies, ran in the February 18 edition of the Chicago Tribune. Williams was interviewed about his new book, "The Almighty Black P Stone Nation: The Rise, Fall and Resurgence of an American Gang."

WTTW-TV
On February 15, Edward Stuart, professor, economics and international/intercultural studies, appeared on WTTW-TV's news show "Chicago Tonight" to discuss the federal budget.

Windy City Times
A February 14 story in the Windy City Times quoted Erica Meiners, professor, educational inquiry and curriculum studies. The story was about controversial fast food chain Chik-fil-A's impending entrance into the Chicago market. Meiners commented on a proposed boycott of the chain, saying that it is good to question the company's stance on various issues and that a boycott should not be based on a single issue.

Windy City Times
The February 2 issue of the Windy City Times ran a story about the Chicago History Museum's (CHM) "Out at CHM: Sexicon: Language and Identity" program on January 27. The story noted that the show's moderator was Erica Meiners, professor, educational inquiry and curriculum studies.

Milwaukee Journal Sentinel
A January 21 story in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel about the Chicago Bears quoted Steven Riess, professor, history. Riess said that the Bears represent how Chicagoans see themselves, as rough and tough.

Pioneer Local
Jorge Perez, executive director, Ensemble Espanol, was quoted in a January 20 Pioneer Local story that ran ahead of a recent performance by the troupe. Perez described the styles of dance that would be presented at the performance.

In January, communication, media and theatre student Susana Luna was featured on the American Association of State Colleges and Universities' (AASCU) website, aascu.org, as part of the association's "First Generation Voices Project." Luna, a senior, submitted a biographical narrative about her experience as the first in her family to attend college and was selected to represent Northeastern Illinois University.
