The 1867 Founders Society was established in 2001 through the efforts of Dr. Bernard Brommel and President Salme Harju Steinberg.
The purpose of the society is twofold:
- To increase the future endowment of Northeastern Illinois University
- To honor those individuals who provide gifts through estate planning during their lifetime.
To become a member of the NEIU 1867 Founders Society all you need to do is include Northeastern in your will or estate plan. No specific amount of money is required. A percentage of your estate can be donated, while the rest goes to family, friends and other charities.
Members of the Founders Society are invited to special receptions with the President and receive complimentary tickets to campus events and concerts such as Jewel Box or Mostly Music.
