On Monday, August 17, the 43rd Annual Chuck Kane Scholarship Golf Event took place at Chevy Chase Country Club in Wheeling, IL. It was another success, raising more than $36,300. This is the second highest fundraising total for the outing.

Since the Foundation has taken over the event in 2009 the event has raised over $250,000 for student scholarships.

This year we welcomed NHL Blackhawks legend, Hall of Famer and 1961 Stanley Cup Champion, Bobby Hull, and NEIU alumnus and assistant managing editor of Crain's Chicago Business, Tom Corfman, as our guests. Bobby hung out at hole 10 on the course, during cocktail hour and dinner and took pictures and signed autographs. Tom joined us for dinner as our featured speaker.

The Northeastern Illinois University Foundation’s annual Chuck Kane Scholarship Golf Event is held annually in memory of former athletic director and golf coach Charles "Chuck" Kane. Chuck Kane scholarships have supported more than 135 students, a group known as The Second 9, since 1973.

The tournament has drawn a number of notable alumni over the years, including NBA referee Danny Crawford and former MLB pitcher Alan Hargesheimer.
