NEIU students are allowed to register a maximum of one vehicle per academic semester.

Starting in Fall 2023, students will have the choice to OPT-IN to pay for parking by purchasing parking permit.  The Blue Zone parking fee will no longer be automatically charged to student bills AND parking waivers will no longer need to be submitted by students that do not park on the NEIU campus.

Students who OPT-IN to participate in Blue Zone parking will be assessed a parking fee by Student Payment Services based on the number of credit hours in which they are enrolled, regardless of the campus or type of classes (in-person or online) at a rate of $10 per credit hour up to a maximum of 16 credit hours.

Payments and Issuing

Student parking fees are ONLY added your student bill if you OPT-IN to pay for a parking permit in order to park on the NEIU campus. If you have any outstanding parking obligations, you will not be able to register your vehicle.

Refunds

Credit hours will be verified on the 10th day of class of each semester and parking charges will be submitted to Student Payment Services. No refunds will be issued after this date.

Registering for a parking permit

Students will need to pick up a parking permit and display it in their vehicle. Please see the Permit Parking page for how to opt-in to parking and obtain your permit. Once you have a permit, it is good the entire time you are a student. You will be billed for parking the 10th day of each term. If you no longer wish to be charged for parking, you need to return your permit to the University Police Department.

Drop-Off Locations

There are two drop-off locations—Lech Walesa Hall and the Northeastern Child Care Center. Child Care Center drop-off parking spots may be used for temporary parking associated with the drop off and pick up of children participating in the daycare program. Lech Walesa Hall drop-off spots are for drop-off and pick-up of students only. No parking is allowed. These areas are closely monitored. Please visit the Campus Parking Locations and Maps page to view our on-campus parking options.
