PC Prep is housed in the College of Arts and Sciences under the Department of World Languages and Cultures; however, the program spans all colleges and departments across the University. 

Join PC Prep

PC Prep program participants will be required to: 

  • Take a total of three courses in one of six specific work sectors (Courses can be part of a student's major or minor, but do not need to be.)
    • Education
    • Health
    • Environment
    • Agriculture
    • Youth Development
    • Community Economic Development
  • Complete a minimum of 50 hours of volunteer or work experience in their same sector, preferably in a teaching or outreach capacity
  • Complete a foreign language requirement (Minimum course requirements vary by desired placement region.)
  • Develop intercultural competence through coursework (three approved courses) or through a combination of coursework and substantive intercultural experience
  • Complete professional and leadership development
    • Create a resume and have it critiqued by Career Development 
    • Attend a Career Development workshop or class on interview skills
    • Develop at least one significant leadership experience and be able to discuss the event thoughtfully (Examples: Organize a campus event, lead a work or volunteer project, serve on the executive board of a student organization)
