So long, finals week! As Commencement approaches, Northeastern Illinois University has some exciting news about how to view the ceremony. Read about that and much more! Due to the overwhelming positive response by our graduates to attend the May 2015 Commencement ceremony and the popularity of the guest speaker, Rita Moreno, the ceremony will be streamed live at so that guests from around the world will be able to tune in to see it.

Northeastern awards 10 research grants

Northeastern Illinois University’s 2015–2016 Committee on Organized Research Grants has approved 10 grant proposals to faculty members. “The research funded by these awards assists faculty members in remaining leaders in their respective fields and reinforces Northeastern Illinois University’s commitment to providing its students with the highest level of instruction,” Vice Provost for Academic Affairs Vicki Román-Lagunas said. “I would like to congratulate our awardees and wish them productive research endeavors.” Here are the approved proposals:

Frank Solivan & Dirty Kitchen Band to perform in Jewel Box Series

Critically acclaimed bluegrass band Frank Solivan & Dirty Kitchen Band will perform at Northeastern Illinois University on Friday, May 15. Since leaving his native Alaska, Frank Solivan has built a reputation in the Washington music scene with his impressive skills on the mandolin and the help of his band, Dirty Kitchen Band. The Dirty Kitchen Band is made up of 2013 International Bluegrass Music Association banjoist of the year Mike Munford, award-winning guitarist Chris Luquette and doghouse bassist Dan Booth.
